POMCore presentation to take place on Jan. 25 in support of the ARS Armenian Private School Telethon

TORONTOHYE—A special POMcore screening organized by the Pomegranate Film Festival (POM) will take place on Sunday, Jan. 25, at the Hamazkayin Theatre, located inside the Armenian Youth Centre at 50 Hallcrown Place. The event will feature two film screenings, with all proceeds donated to the annual A.R.S. Armenian Private School Telethon. As Ontario's only full-time Armenian-language school, ARS Armenian Private School relies heavily on its yearly telethon to continue educating students in Toronto

The first screening, scheduled for 5 p.m., will be 'A Winter's Song,' the Gala Film of the 2025 POM Festival. Directed by Angela Asatrian, winner of the Golden POM, the film presents a winter portrait of Armenia and features a cast that includes comedian Kev Orkian, singer Krista Marina, and emerging actors Jesse Bedrossian and Edgar Damatian. The second screening, at 7 p.m., will be Monsieur Aznavour, a previous Best Feature Film winner at the Pomegranate Film Festival. The film, which made its North American premiere at POM, chronicles the life and career of legendary Franco-Armenian artist Charles Aznavour and returns for a final theatrical screening following multiple sold-out showings.

Tickets are available for a $25 donation per film, while attendees can watch both films for a $40 donation at the door. Organizers note that those unable to attend are also encouraged to purchase tickets on behalf of others, allowing the films to be enjoyed while supporting a meaningful cause.

In related news, the POM Film Festival is also promoting the Toronto premiere of 'There Was, There Was Not ,' directed by Emily Mkrtichian, which will take place on Friday, Jan.16, at HotDocs. The screening will be followed by a question-and-answer session hosted by filmmaker Atom Egoyan.

The POM film festival has also announced that its 19th annual edition is scheduled for Nov. 9 to 15, 2026. More information in the link in the comments.
