Այսօր Սրբոց Թարգմանչաց տօնն է, որ կը խորհրդանշէ հայոց գիրերու գիւտը, Աստուածաշունչի հայերէն առաջին թարգմանութիւնը, թարգմանչաց շարժումն ու հայ դպրութեան սկիզբը։

Նշելու համար Թարգմանչաց տօնը, կարդացէ՛ք թորոնթոհայ բանաստեղծ Գրոգոր Հոթոյեանի «Մեսրոպ մաշտոց» բանաստեղծոութիւնը (վերահրատարակուած այս տարի լոյս տեսած «Սրտաբուխ բանաստեղծութիւններ» հատորին մէջ) ու «Թորոնթոհայ»-ի անգլերէն թարգմանութիւնը:

Այսօր Թարգմանչաց տօնն է/Today is Holy Translators Day

Today is the Feast of the Holy Translators, which celebrates the creation of the Armenian alphabet, the first Armenian translation of the Bible, the Translators' Movement, and the start of Armenian literacy and instruction!

To celebrate Translators' Day, please read Toronto-Armenian poet Kirkor Hotoyan's «Մեսրոպ Մաշտոց» and our English translation below!

Մեսրոպ Մաշտո՛ց, ո՜վ պանծալի վարդապետ,

Լոյսի աղբիւր, նախախնամեալ գիտնական,

Վեհ տեսիլքիդ արգասիքով ազգակերտ՝

Ստեղծեցիր այբենգիմը հայկական։

Մեսրոպ Մաշտո՛ց, ո՜վ հանճարեղ մարգարէ,

Միտք անպարփակ՝ հորիզոններ վերծանող,

Մտածումիդ տուած իտէա՛լ կապարէ,

Հայոց լեզուին տուիր տառեր լուսաշող։

Զոհողութեան հրաշափառ ատրուշան,

Իմաստութեան անզուգական ջահակիր,

Նպատակիդ տուած մարմին պողպատեայ՝

Մշակոյթի քանքարաւոր սերմնացան,

Նուիրումիդ հզօր թափէն յաղթական՝

Հայ դպրութեան անդաստաններ հերկուեցան։

Մեսրոպ Մաշտո՛ց, ո՜վ խորախոյզ գիւտարար,

Մեծ հրաշքէդ տասնըհինգ դար ետք ահա,

Կու գամ հպարտ ողջունելու միշտ դալար

Mesrop Mashtots, O wise scholar divine,

Source of light, glorious Vardapet,

Nation-builder by your great vision's sign,

You created the Armenian alphabet!

Mesrop Mashtots, O ingenious prophet,

Unconfined thought, who horizons can trace,

By the ideal lead your mind had set,

You gave our language light-shining letters with grace.

Mesrop Mashtots, O life-giving sun’s bright ray,

A wondrous altar of sacrifice's bright flame,

With the force of your granite will that won't decay,

You gave our language sacred script and name.

Mesrop Mashtots, O inspiring, soul-stirring guide,

Eternal Ararat of Armenian history's stream,

By the holy plan you brought to life inside,

The Armenian tongue remained pure and keen.

Mesrop Mashtots, O stainless apostle true,

Brightly crowned with the laurel of Armenian lore,

By the fiery wings your quest flew through,

You made the Armenian language immortal evermore.

Mesrop Mashtots, O pioneer of all learned thought,

Incomparable torch-bearer of deepest wisdom,

By the steel-firm body your purpose wrought,

You forged the Golden Age of our culture's kingdom.

Mesrop Mashtots, O hero of Nayiri, of great fame,

Gifted sower of culture's potent seed,

By the victorious force of your mighty dedication's flame,

The fields of Armenian instruction were freed.

Mesrop Mashtots, O profound, insightful creator,

Behold, fifteen centuries since your great wonder,
