Scarborough–Agincourt Candidate Aris Movsessian responds to campaign sign vandalism with positivity and accountability
TORONTOHYE—Scarborough-Agincourt Conservative Party of Canada - Parti conservateur du Canada candidate Aris Movsessian is calling for respectful political engagement following the vandalism of several of his campaign signs in the riding.
Photos shared on social media show damaged and defaced signs—an act Movsessian described as 'deeply troubling' and 'undemocratic.' Despite the setback, he says he is staying focused on running a fair and positive campaign.
"Our team has gathered clear photos and videos of those responsible for these actions, and we will ensure that they are held accountable," he said in a statement. "Democracy thrives on respectful engagement, and we must stand against any attempts to undermine it."
Movsessian, a lifelong resident of the riding and a proud member of the Armenian-Canadian community, has been actively involved in politics since his early teens. A graduate of A.R.S. Armenian Private School and a current student at the University of Toronto specializing in management and accounting, he has long advocated for civic engagement and public service.
His path into politics was inspired in part by Member of Provincial Parlament (MPP) and fellow Armenian-Canadian Aris Babikian, whose provincial campaign Movsessian joined as a volunteer at the age of 12. Since then, he has worked on various campaigns across all levels of government and built a strong reputation for his dedication and work ethic.
In his December 2024 interview with Torontohye, Movsessian shared that he is running to bring a fresh voice to Ottawa—one that reflects the diverse, hardworking communities of Scarborough–Agincourt.
"Let's keep the focus on positive, fair campaigning," he said, reiterating his belief that constructive dialogue and community connection must remain at the heart of the democratic process.
As the federal election approaches, Movsessian and his team continue to meet with residents, listen to their concerns, and share their vision for a better future, undeterred by attempts to distract from the issues that matter.
