Letter to the editor: A heartwarming glimpse into the future of our community
Dear Editor,
As I sat in the cafeteria of the Armenian Community Centre of Toronto - Թորոնթոյի Հայ Կեդրոն in Toronto on a vibrant, sunny day, I found myself immersed in an inspiring scene. The heartwarming sight of little children from the A.R.S. Armenian Private School Babayan Kindergarten, hand in hand under the gentle guidance of their teachers, filled the hallway with an air of innocence and promise. These young minds, stepping through the community centre for lunch recess, painted a picture of hope and continuity for our Armenian heritage. Adjacent to this delightful scene were ARS Armenian Private School students from both the elementary and secondary levels: youth from different age groups, some stepping into the coffee shop to grab lunch, created a mosaic of youthful energy and potential.
This moment was more than just a regular day in the life of our community; it was a testament to the safe, nurturing environment we have fostered for our Armenian youth in Toronto. The dedication and devotion of the teachers who surround these students are pivotal in shaping their journey. It is in these uninterrupted years of learning and growing that the seeds of leadership, community service, and cultural preservation are sown.
As I shared my thoughts with friends nearby, I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and optimism. Our younger generation, these 'tsakoogner,' and their senior counterparts are emerging leaders who will carry the torch of our rich Armenian legacy. It is heartening to know that ARS' current principal and many teachers are graduates of the school; many active youth in the community, as well as current community leaders, are themselves products of this nurturing system.
This experience highlighted the importance of our role in supporting and continuing to provide such empowering environments for our children. They are not just the future of our Armenian community in Toronto; they are its very soul. As we look forward to the future, let us cherish and support these young minds, for in their growth and success lies the vibrancy and resilience of our Armenian culture and community. ֎
Sincerely,
Hrad Poladian
